The Loft
Our loft is made of 3/4 inch plywood, 2x4s and chicken wire. The dimensions for the inside coop is 4 ft wide by 8 ft long by 8 ft tall. The outside flight area is 4 ft wide by 6 ft long by 6 ft tall. Both indoor and out door have wood floors, and are screened in with chicken wire. The outdoor flight is 2 ft off the ground. All corners and seams are caulked shut to prevent any drafts.
Here is a picture of the outdoor flight before we panted and caulked. My daughter is crawling throw the door for the pigeons to get in and out. We have 5 perches for them, and the roof is covered so nothing can drop in. Also the entire coop in under a shingled roof. There is a 2 ft crawl space between the two roofs.
Here is my husband in between the roofs, we had a slight leak and he climbed up to fix it. It was a tight squeeze but he made it work.
We have added a shed in between the loft and the garage. Inside the shed is the door to to go into the flight.
This is the door to get inside the loft. We're not done painting yet. I have a solar bird house as a light. We still need to do a little finishing touches.
